Rolling hillside views, "smart growth", a trolley system that connects to downtown, and affordable real estate all join together to make La Mesa an ideal San Diego city to call home. Located just east of San Diego, La Mesa has grown from a sleepy farming community into a dynamic metropolitan area that's managed to retain its unique character and natural beauty.

The San Diego Transcript called La Mesa "a partner in smart growth values", where "the downtown city center and nearby commercial and health care hubs ... are surrounded by tree-lined residential neighborhoods and multifamily homes."

Four trolley stops connect La Mesa with nearby SDSU, Mission Valley and downtown San Diego. Development encircling the newest stop, Grossmont Trolley Station, will include retail shops, entertainment and dining venues, along with residential units.

Nicknamed the "Jewel of the Hills", La Mesa actively preserves its natural surroundings and operates 14 parks, a municipal pool, a nine-hole golf course and numerous tennis courts, providing its population of 60,000 a wealth of recreational options. Nearby are Lake Murray, a popular venue for biking, jogging, boating, fishing, and picnicking; and Mission Trails Regional Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country encompassing over 5,000 acres of both natural and developed recreational space.

La Mesa Village continues to thrive with quaint shops, historic architecture, outdoor cafes and unique community events. Every Friday afternoon, an outdoor farmers' market is held on Allison Avenue, abounding in fresh produce, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods and more. In the summer, classic cars line La Mesa Boulevard for the Thursday Night Car show with live music, DJs, shopping and dining in The Village.

Housing opportunities abound in La Mesa, ranging from condos that start just under $200's, to single family homes from the low-to-mid $400s, to estate homes nearing the $1 million mark on Mount Helix, enjoying incredible 360-views of San Diego County.
