University City is located in the highly-desired "Golden Triangle." The "Golden Triangle" is made up of Interstate 5 and 805 and Highway 52 where you will find high paying jobs a plenty scientists, engineers, and financiers conglomerate here. If residents do not work within the triangle, commuting to downtown San Diego is very reasonable at less than 10 min. University City's nearness to University of California at San Diego (UCSD) also makes it very attractive to university students.

University City real estate was predominantly built in the 1950s through the 1970s. Due to the desire of the location, all newer University City homes tend to be either condominiums or townhomes. Apartment homes are also popular, again, due to its proximity to UCSD. Detached homes in University City surround the Rose Canyon, a designated open space. University City condos are typically aimed at those with active, busy lifestyles or the life of a student. Condominium developments are typically known to feature fitness rooms, pools, and spas. Some University City condos also have tennis courts, computer rooms, concierge services, commercial kitchens and even movie theatres!

Cool ocean breezes typically sweep through the canyon hills, making temperatures ideal. University City is also close to Soledad National Park, where Mt. Soledad is a popular tourist stop. Fantastic shopping can be found at University Towne Center, Renaissance, and Costa Verde. All three of these are outdoor mall environments, again, taking advantage of the wonderful weather and temperatures found here. Prefer sun and surf? You can do that, too, as the community is very close to the famous beaches of La Jolla, where bodyboarding, surfing, and snorkeling are common.
