Del Mar Real Estate
The coastal community of
Del Mar stretches from just north of the Torrey Pines Nature Reserve along the
Pacific to Solana Beach and east to Del Mar Heights and Carmel Valley. It is a
small community of less than two square miles with most of the homes situated
less than a quarter mile from the beach. Because Del Mar’s geographic area is
limited, there is little new development. However, the area showcases a variety
of traditional and contemporary single-family homes, as well as apartment and condominium complexes, many with spectacular ocean views.
Del Mar’s main street is
lined with shops and restaurants. Summers bring a huge number of tourists, many
for the beaches and the annual Del Mar Fair, though the majority come for the
sport at the Del Mar Racetrack. A significant number of the apartments and condominiums are rented for the race season at extremely high rates, making Del
Mar an attractive investment opportunity or ideal location for those seeking a
part-time residence.
Together, the
City of Del Mar and the Del Mar Village Association are undertaking a downtown
revitalization project, designed to make the area even more appealing to
businesses and residents. As with most of Southern California, property prices
have increased dramatically in the area, with most single-family homes now
exceeding $1 million.
