Escondido Real Estate
Escondido is
located 18 miles inland and 30 miles northeast of San Diego. The area was
principally an agricultural center, producing grapes in the late 1800s, then
citrus and avocado. There has been a great deal of development, but Escondido
still offers a small town atmosphere with a business friendly environment.
Escondido is one
of the few remaining communities where people of all income levels can enjoy the
Southern California lifestyle. The city has the lowest median cost of homes in
the North County area, including the county as a whole. The area offers
attractive homes in a wide range of prices, eight parks, two lakes, a sports
center, golf courses, restaurants, wineries, and shopping centers. Escondido’s
housing includes low-income apartments, new condominium complexes, historic
California bungalows that originally housed migrant workers, gated planned
communities, and Mediterranean style estate homes.
The city recently
built the California Center for the Arts and a new City Hall. Currently, the
Mercado project is revitalizing historic downtown Escondido and Center City
Parkway as a destination for antiquing and fine dining. The location of the
Wild Animal Park in the San Pasqual area has attracted visitors and publicity to
the area.
