| Carlsbad is a North County beach community developing as an economic powerhouse of North County. It is an incorporated city with a thriving light industrial sector. Notable industries include golf equipment and software development. There are two large, master-planned communities, La Costa and Aviara. Carlsbad Village, the downtown area, lies near the beach. It's brew pubs, antique shops and historical architecture make it an attractive area. Carlsbad is also well known for it's large flower-growing industry.
